Adult Training
Pro-Action has a number of adult training courses running on various dates from October 2009 to March 2010 at locations across Hertfordshire. The courses are designed to enhance the work of volunteers, youth workers and professionals and are held in evenings and weekends to give all interested parties a chance to attend. Our last term of courses saw 167 certifications issued to individuals across Hertfordshire.
Fees:
Non-Members (Voluntary & Community Groups): £15 per course
Non-Members (For all other organisations): £30 per course

Emergency Life Support Courses
Every youth provision when open to the public needs to have a first aider on site. This 4 hour course covers management of the unconscious casualty and resuscitation procedures for adults, children and infants plus controlling bleeding, treating burns, caring for someone affected by shock, and a little about broken bones. Certification: A Certificate of Competence from the ‘Red Cross’ is issued valid for 3 years. |

Stage 1: Basic Child Protection Training This course is essential for any adult who delivers services for children and young people. The course introduces child protection processes and procedures, developing confidence in dealing with issues and recognition of abuse and analysing parenting skills. The aim is that practitioners will be aware of how to log and report concerns and will be able to promote working in a protective ethos. Certification: Accredited ‘Education Child Protection’ certificate valid for 3 years |

| Stage 2: Designated Professional Child Protection Training This course is aimed at the designated lead for child protection in youth projects. Following on from the stage 1 it builds on developing participants understanding of the legal framework and procedures surrounding child protection, as well as looking at the practices of their own organisation and recognising vulnerable young people. Certification: Accredited ‘Education Child Protection’ certificate valid for 3 years. |

Behaviour Management Training The session covers areas including ‘What is difficult behaviour’, exploring the theories behind behaviour and assertiveness techniques, as well as working through practical examples of applying the theory to real-life examples. Certification: A certificate of attendance is issued |

Food Safety This course aims to enhance awareness regarding the preparation, cooking and serving of food, including hazard awareness and legislation, food handling, temperature control and the principles of safe food storage. Sports Leaders Session The Day Certificate has been designed support adults in a variety of different settings including community groups, uniformed organisations, sports and youth projects deliver physical activities as a part of their projects programme. Research undertaken by Sports Leaders UK suggests that many candidates who have already been engaged with the Day Certificate in Sports Leadership now feel far more confident and assertive in their role as a Sports Leader, delivering quality and engaging activities for young people. |
