Dear Friends

I have always worked within the voluntary and community sector and wish to applaud and celebrate those that continue to give time to volunteer within their community. Something that brings me immense joy is in knowing I have been part of the story for those who are now making an impact in the lives of others. Every year Pro-Action holds its Annual Member Awards Evening, where we acknowledge some amazing contributions to the lives of children and young people in this county. It is fun as well as sobering to here the stories behind the awards we make, knowing that they are the tip of the iceberg of people pouring their time and energy into encouraging youngsters to be the best they can be, and finding joy in watching that happen.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Pro-Action’s life since it began in 2008 when I was a trustee and then my six plus years as CEO. You are examples of what the youth and children’s sector is all about; putting others before yourselves and being committed to seeing young people flourish, celebrating their successes, then turning round and doing it all again. So many of you have been and continue to be inspirations to me and it has been a privilege to work alongside you. Which brings me to the team. Pro-Action’s model of working is based on the power of a team. Everyone makes his or her contribution to their specialist area, but without the team working together we are nothing. I want to publically thank each of you for your support, encouragement and challenge that has made me a worthy CEO for the period I have been privileged to hold that position. I have loved working with you through all the highs and lows; being alongside a group of people committed to the work and pulling together is everything I could have asked for.

My hope is that Pro-Action will thrive and flourish, continuing to fly a banner for, and making an impact into the voluntary youth and children’s sector of this county. That Hertfordshire will be known as a county where we work together to support ALL children and young people, and where their voice is enabled and taken seriously. Thanks to those who are already on this journey, but it needs more to join in and bring about the changes we have worked towards for so long. As I sign off, I hope that my path will cross many of yours in the future and that each of you will be enriched in the great work you do.

With best wishes

Dave
