Mar 03, 2019

After a recent BBC article published on 17/01/19 - ‘UK film age rating rules get stricter for scenes of sexual violence’, we are pleased to see that these new rules came into place on 28 February 2019.

Under 15’s are not allowed to see films that depict sexual violence and rape following these new rules. They were set by The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) after a survey of 100,000 people.

BBFC chief executive David Austin said in the survey, that parents were worried about the "sexualisation of society and what they called the pornification of society", and "They are worried about children growing up being exposed to too much too soon, and they want to hold onto their children's childhood as far as they can".

The BBFC also wants its ratings to appear on all streaming services.
