Head of External Relations
Tashmina has been with Pro-Action since March 2012. Initially working as our Rural Youth and Community Development Officer, then as the Membership Development Officer & Communications and Events Lead, now sitting as Head of External Relations, overseeing Communications & Membership.
Tashmina graduated from university with a degree in English Literature and has dedicated her professional career to working with the community, in particular with children and young people. She has over 16 years experience in the voluntary sector, and has worked 1-2-1 with young people as well as developing and managing projects for them and the wider community. Her first foray into children’s services was as a Learning Mentor, supporting underachieving children in schools across Hertfordshire. She developed her role, and soon became the Children’s Services Manager for a North Herts based charity supporting local Black and Minority Ethnic communities. After a short break, she began work with Pro-Action to initiate and develop youth services and projects in rural Hertfordshire.
Working for Pro-Action has helped Tashmina to continue developing provision for young people, and to support voluntary groups to provide these services to their young people. Tashmina’s passion has always been developing opportunities for children and young people, and working to provide them with wider opportunities to learn, up skill and achieve. She is currently focusing her communications work on developing the #YAMA brand and raising the profile of Pro-Action to expand our reach. Recent developments include the new website, our relaunch and incorporating a CRM database for better Member management.
